Sig's Silmarils

Did you hear that the Elder Queen moved back to her husband's old farm here in Rohan? I haven't yet decided whether it is a good thing or not. Alas, she has asked me to explain a few things about the three open Sage jobs on World of Middle Earth, so pay good attention, you might find your future job here ;)

What is a Sage job?
As you might know, World of Middle Earth is a text-based RPG site by fans for fans. However, WoME is more than just a website where you can roleplay as an original character. We are giving our users the opportunity to do a lot more and one big aspect of that are the classes we have available on site. Our Sages, or teachers, are such a vital part of World of Middle Earth. As a Sage you are responsible for the subject you have on site. You will create new lessons weekly about everything there is to know about your subject in Tolkien's universe. Not only do you keep our users entertained, but you also help them gain more knowledge about the world Tolkien created and give them an opportunity to develop their characters by doing your assignments. A very important job, if I might add. Without our Sages WoME would be a very dull place.

What can you expect of Tracking & Hunting?
Tracking & Hunting focusses on everything there is to know about- well, what the subject's name already suggests. WoME is looking for someone who can teach our users everything there is to know about looking for tracks in the wild and recognising them. What tools would you use (if you are not an elf whose eyesight is so much better than ours), or how can you best dress yourself while tracking/hunting? Then, of course, there is the hunting part. What weapons would you use? What techniques will make sure you have that rabbit in your stew tonight? There is so much to explore on this entire subject! The subject is for users rank 1-7.

What can you expect of Herbs & Healing?
Another great subject, might I add. You might already have heard of kingsfoil, Aragorn mentions it a lot in the books/movies. However, there is so much to explore about the use of herbs, not only for healing, but you might know about some usable for cooking as well ;). Then onto the healing part. Tolkien himself took a lot of inspiration from the early to late Middle Ages. The healers in the books he wrote often use those old fashioned techniques, spiked with a little fantasy and maybe a bit of magic. Would you be creative enough to teach our users how to cure a nasty dagger wound without the help of modern day appliances, or how to stop a runny nose? This subject is also available for users rank 1-7.

What can you expect of Music of Middle Earth?
You might already know that music is such an important part of the lore Tolkien wrote for this universe. In fact, the world supposedly came to be by a song. Elves love music, dwarves love music, hobbits love music, humans love music- well, who doesn't love music (even goblins do, but we should spare our users their singing). With a little creativity, could you teach our users everything there is to know about why music is so important to this universe, or what instruments elves love playing the most? Maybe you could even dive into the songs Tolkien himself wrote for the books and have users eventually come up with their own? Again, there is so much to cover for this subject! It is available for users rank 3-7.

How can you apply?
I knew you would ask that after reading this ;) great! I honestly can't tell you how much I, personally, enjoy a teacher's job on site. The interaction you have with other users, bringing your lessons to live every single week. It is a joy! And you will be joining an amazing team, I can assure you that. But I am blabbering, apologies. Click here to see how you can apply! For more questions, don't hesitate to contact Íona or Tobias. Good luck!

Thank you for joining me today. My name is Sigrúnn Gilraen. I live in a small village located not too far from Edoras. I work at a local tavern, which allows me to pick up a few interesting stories so every now and then. These stories I love to share with you in this weekly blog: Sig's Silmarils.

Arda's rich lore. Every month shall bring you a different story. Do you wish to visit the tavern to bring me a tale or two I can share with our other travellers? You are always welcome to send me a beacon...
