Curious with Caine

Word travels with the wind. Strange tales reach across the world, far and wide. My name is Caine Jendryng. I have spent my youth in a city most famous for its mythical tellings. In Dale, you're either curious… or you are a curiosity. In this first issue of Curious with Caine: a strange tale of the Fourth Age...

Today, I bring you a strange tale from nearby! Pictured above is the image of a powerful lady who dwells among us. She is of such incredible age, her looks will naught but deceive you! She is a close confidant to our Queen, and you guessed it right… She's always sporting blue!

Íona Draugrîs is a name known to all. But did you know that her beauty has been made (near) eternal not so long ago?

A few weeks back, a painting had been commissioned by two feisty Hobbits who have been causing a ruckus all around Minas Tirith and beyond. They did not have many requirements, other than that the painting should praise her fame and her power. Unfortunately to all, the original work has been removed and destroyed shortly after. Rumor has it a grumpy Dwarf Lord was responsible! The above portrait was presented to me as I was told this story, as to illustrate what the original painting may have looked like.

It is a shame we may never again witness the work of art with our own eyes, because this is but a replica and compared to the descriptions we have of the original, there is no Dwarf pictured, who was slain by our fair lady. She wields a sword instead of a dagger with which she supposedly cut off the Dwarf's beard as if to dishonour him!

While it is clear why the Dwarf Lord wanted this work of art removed, I'm quite certain that the Lady herself would've loved for her portrait to have lasted for as long as she herself has been dwelling among us by now. If it were for just the Dwarves, she is said to be petty and vain. If you ask me, she is but too fair looking for a mere mortal to understand!

Curious with Caine brings you the most creative tales from far and wide. Some are old, some are not. Some are of this world, some reach beyond. Dwarves, Men, Elves and Hobbits — as long as it's curious, you can count on Caine!
